Gray Rain

April. A sadistically long month full of down pouring rain that continues to clutch onto the frigid mantle of winter without the promise of spring. The world remains caught in an ethereal wasteland, stuck between the realm of frozen death where everything sleeps, and the precious plane of eternal growth as life shakes her drowsy head to wipe the long hibernation from her eyes.

Rain is only the beginning stage, a simple step towards the cleansing of morbid mortality that stalks the sleeping world all through the frozen season. It falls from tempestuous gray clouds full of somber drab as its faded color squeezes all the life out of the joyful

Why Am I Hurting Too?

I'm watching him tear up.

I see how his lips form the words I don't want to hear.

He's begging me to come back,

reaching for a hand that doesn't want him to hurt anymore.

I think I'm helping him by leaving him behind.

I think that if he can let me go that he'll be okay.

Maybe I was wrong?

I'm falling apart listening to him sob and beg.

He wants us to be together,

Needs me like he needs breath,

but all I can feel is the emptiness and self-hatred.

I want him to be happy without me.

I want with everything I possess to make him see,

I love another, someone not him.

Yet...

I still love him.

This is for the De contest seen and shown here [link] . I spent a total of two weeks on this project and I'm not happy with how it came out, hopefully next year I won't feel so rushed at the end.

If you'll notice, the pumpkins seem to be... deflated... It's because I started the actual carving on 10.27.11 and between arthritic fingers, breaks, chasing of children, visiting the parents(as I did this in their house. We are on vacation currently) these poor pumpkins just didn't quite make it very long. They don't make pumpkins like they used to.

These pictures and carvings are of the "Knite" category from the wonderfully talented,

. She is bloody brilliant in her portrayal of this beautiful comic book story and I do hope to win! It would be cool to win something, or at least an honorable mention!

EDIT 2: I wish you all could see the detailing work i put into the goldfish kite pumpkin, i put a yin/yang symbol on him and worked so hard on that little thing... Darn pumpkin! You win this year!!!!
